Heatherwood Quiet Garden |
||
Heatherwood has 18 acres of rugged farm land. It is set in the beautiful Shibden Valley 3 miles from Halifax town centre. The author of a little book entitled “The Valley of Content” says, “I should love to take up this Valley all who are sick at heart and the bodily sick too, for there is no medicine to equal that of a contented mind. But the merely lazy, no, for it offers no indolent contentment, only the contentment that comes of right activity, the result of right thinking.” The Heatherwood Quiet Garden has been created from the slopes of the field. There are seats which when sat on give views of the valley through all the seasons of the year. At this time, October, we see before our eyes the changing colours of the trees that have blossomed green in the summer and will bring us gentle colours in the spring of new foliage. The disabled access, just completed, makes walking easy and wheel chairs have no problem. Visitors can stop and gaze at the plants and touch the perfumed ones as they pass and reflect on how wonderful nature is, put there for our pleasure. Spend a while meditating on Creation, breathing in the pure air, and ponder the things that come to mind. Listen to ourselves, our own nature, the One who created us, and for what purpose. You don’t have to do anything in this garden but soak in all that it has to offer you – a sojourner on the earth. If you feel you would like to help with the garden go to the Contact page for an address or phone number. Thank you for visiting us. |
